INTERVIEW with Jenna Elfman: Will she be back on SYTYCD for Season 11?

I know the So You Think You Can Dance season premiere is still months away, but I tried to get a little bit of information for you when I sat down to interview Jenna Elfman for her new NBC series, Growing Up Fisher.

Here what she had to say about her possible involvement with Season 11 of the FOX show. Will she be there as a judge? Will she be at any of the audition rounds? If you want to skip to the whole SYTYCD section, start at the 6:20 mark.

Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Who Wore It Best?: Anne Heche, Cheryl Burke or...

It's time for another round of Who Wore It Best? Again, it's with the amazing creations of Gilbert Chagoury of Chagoury Couture who has designed my Oscar dress for the last three years. His work is incredible especially when it comes to the beadwork on the gowns.

I was super excited to see the dress was worn by two celebs including Anne Heche of NBC's Save Me and Cheryl Burke of DWTS. I like seeing the contrast of blondes versus a brunette wearing the gown. It shows you that a well-designed dress looks good on many different complexions, body types and hair color.

Time for the big survey! It's just for fun, so vote away.

AfterBuzz TV DWTS: Sharna Burgess & Lindsay Arnold

Ahhh, what a season! I cannot believe it's over.  It's been a wild ride over the last 10 weeks. My wish for next season is that we are all good to each other...no matter who we are rooting for. We are so lucky to live in a world where we can have our own opinions and thoughts, but it is important to be respectful of the opposing side.  Kellie and Zendaya are both beautiful dancers and women. While they each brought different things to the table, we watched because we love dance.  While Kellie went home with that mirror ball trophy, I think we are all going to watch Zendaya become a superstar in Hollywood...way beyond the confines of Disney/ABC. Whether she hits the music scene or takes on the film world, mark my words, she will be wildly successful.

My SheKnows.com article about the DWTS finale >>

I know many of you aren't satisfied with the voting explanation. ABC should have done a better job with explaining what happened much like NBC did with The Voice when they had a similar issue in early May. Legally, they did the right thing by throwing out the ABC.com votes. It leveled the playing field for both coasts.  While viewers were left with phone, text, and Facebook votes, I know some of you will argue it isn't fair.  Well, I can never text since I'm not an AT&T customer.....so that's not fair. I also only have a public FB page, so I cannot vote via social media. I have to pick up the phone. We could go in circles about this over and over. Remember, all networks have to abide by FCC regulations and Broadcast Standards and Practices. Here are ABC's guidelines for their entire network. What ABC failed to do is explain the situation to the viewers...that is a PR misstep.

Our pre-show Vine video >>

I also think Lindsay and Sharna addressed the footwear issue very well.  There are so many other issues to deal with when you are trying to teach a celebrity to dance.  While it may not be the preferable choice for viewers with a dance background, the pros chose what they felt was best for their celebs. I prefer the line of a heel, but once I heard Lindsay and Sharna's explanations, I feel like I understand the reasoning a bit better...even if I prefer true ballroom footwear.

One crazy photo post-show >>

Thank you all for such a great season. We really cannot do it without you. Your input, comments, questions and artful debate have been so much fun. Even when we don't agree, I love discussing the show with you.  For those of you that are fans of SYTYCD, I hope you join me, Jake, AJ Gibson, and Chloe West for a fun season. Next week, we will slide into DWTS' old time slot on AfterBuzz TV at 9pm PT, so you know where to find us. We will also be bringing in some DWTS and SYTYCD guests to join us once the Top 20 is announced.

The podcast is available to listen to here

Now feel free to comment away about the season, but be respectful of others and their opinions. Thank you!

Host Louise Roe: From 'Fashion Star' to Carrera Ignition Night

Louise Roe at the Carrera Ignition Night event in NYC

Tonight is the season finale of NBC's Fashion Star and host Louise Roe is touting a dramatic finish.

She told The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, "It's so dramatic, and purely by chance, each finalist is on a different team: One is on Team Jessica, one is on Team Nicole, and one is on John's team. So that means the mentors are getting quite emotionally involved. After 10 weeks, they've totally bonded with the designers, not only onstage with me but as their mentors as well. There is a whole lot at stake. It's $6 million worth of clothes in these huge stories."

Besides the end of the fashion show for Season 2, Roe is can be seen everywhere from the Oscars red carpet to hosting a new series Beauty School on Look TV. She was also recently spotted at the Carrera Ignition Night in New York sporting the hottest shades from their current collection.

Roe shared, “Sunglasses are my favorite accessory! You can wear them anytime, anywhere and look exceptionally put-together.”

The fashionista chose peach-hued frames that are perfect for the summer season.

To find out more about Carrera, visit their website.

Who do you think will win Season 2 of Fashion Star?

Dan Harmon Interview About 'Community'

Jim Rash with Dan Harmon at Paley Fest in March.

When you interview someone, you never know how circumstances will change over the course of several months.  When I interviewed Dan Harmon at Paley Fest 2012 back in March, the big news was about the return of Community to the NBC lineup after an unplanned hiatus. Well, several events including a public spat with Chevy Chase lead to his dismissal from the show last week.  Watch my interview with Dan before he was let go from the show:

I would love to hear your thoughts about the controversy.  Hit me up on Twitter or Facebook.

The Friday Five

1. Hard Rock Hollywood/VH1 Save the Music:  Last week, I had the opportunity to fill-in for my friend, Leah Cevoli, who co-hosts a VH1 Save the Music event each Thursday.  VH1 Save the Music raises money to bring back instrumental music education in public schools.  They have raised $48 million for 1800 schools in over 100 cities. Pretty impressive, right?  To learn more about the program, click here.  I also want to thank Jimmy Alvarez of TNN Radio for the photos.

2. Up All Night:  I spent my Tuesday night at the Paley Center interviewing the cast of NBC's freshman comedy, Up All Night for Red Carpet Report.  At the time, they still haven't heard if they were getting a Season 2 pick-up (They are!), but they were in rare form on Tuesday night.  Insider scoop, Christina Applegate had a makeup stain on her jacket that was pretty noticeable.  She totally didn't care either.  I like that.  I also think Will Arnett is our generation's George Hamilton, he is perpetually tan.  See the interview and the makeup stain below:

3.  Instagram:  My favorite photo of the week:  This is for all of you who my job is always glamorous.  I was sitting on a floor for over an hour waiting with the rest of the media for the cast of Up All Night to arrive.  Sexy, right? (Follow me on Instagram:  @KristynBurtt)

4.  Article:  I always love to share articles with people. It's probably why I love Twitter so much.  I read a great article from Slate Magazine that featured Mad Men costume designer, Janie Bryant, and her overall vision for Season 5 of the show.  Take a gander here.

5.  Lip Gloss:  I have a new lip gloss to recommend:  Buxom Lips.  I know many of you try it for its lip plumping qualities to get your inner Angelina Jolie on, but here's why I like it:  No Parabens, sulfates, Phthalates, GMOs, or Triclosan.  That means, no crap went into making this lip gloss.  I purchased "Dolly" which is a muted plum. It's pretty awesome and you can buy it at Sephora for $18.

Have a great weekend, you can always follow my weekend adventures on Twitter or Facebook.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway which ends Wednesday, May 16th.

Or Shop My Closet.  It's spring cleaning time and I'm selling my some of my wardrobe.

The Friday Five

The Friday Five is back!  Here are some pop culture moments from the week for you to mull over.....

1. Jennie Garth:  The news about Jennie and her husband, Peter Facinelli, proved not to be a surprise for a lot of us in Hollywood as there were rumors about them for almost two years. However, I was sorry to hear that they were splitting up.  Jennie is incredibly nice, so let's give her some good press this week.  Check out the interview I did with her last fall for Starpulse.

2. Shealeigh Daily:  This sweet and talented girl won Radio Disney's NBT late last year.  She kindly gave a shout out to my niece and her pal yesterday, so I hope you all stand up and take notice because this gal is going places.  Here's my interview with her from December.

3.  85th Annual Academy Awards:  Okay, the show stays in the same place next year, the last Sunday in February, but the nominations move up a week.  Watch out, Golden Globes, the Oscars are trying to steal your thunder......and make the award campaign season one week longer.  Oh my!

4.  Community:  The NBC show finally made its return to the lineup last night.  Did you watch?  I interviewed the cast a few weeks ago at the Paley Fest and they were chomping at the bit to get back to the fans who supported their show tremendously during their hiatus.

5.  Luck:  This week in Hollywood was anything but lucky for this HBO series which was cancelled after a swift series of horse fatalities on set.  I heard rumors that they were using older horses for challenging racing scenes which may have contributed to the deaths, but in the end, the ratings weren't great. Either way, HBO acted quickly to put this series down. Was it the ratings or the heat from PETA?  What do you think of this week's hottest TV controversy?

That's it for this week's Friday Five.  Let me know what you liked or didn't like this week in the comments section below.  Join the conversation with me on Twitter, Facebook, or Google Plus.

Paley Fest 2012: Community

Joel McHale and Alison Brie

If you caught my coverage of the first night of the Paley Fest,  you know the fans of some of the most beloved shows are rabid for more.  Well, night two was no different as it was the long awaited return of NBC's Community.  They had a rough start to Season three when NBC placed them on a forced hiatus after their fall episodes.  The fans banded together to make sure NBC knew how much they loved their show.  The cast kept working through this hiatus and the network finally announced the return of the show:  March 15th.  Catch up with the cast and find out what they have been up to including Jim Rash, his Oscar, and the most famous leg in the entertainment industry.

Paley Fest 2012: American Horror Story

Jessica Lange
We go back to our regularly scheduled program since we have laid Oscar to bed for 2012......welcome to Paley Fest 2012!  This is an incredible annual series the Paley Center puts on honoring some of the best series in television.  Last night, the festival kicked off with a tribute to American Horror Story, an anthology-based series on FX that has become a television game-changer this season. The big question of the night involved cast members and character who would be returning for Season 2 given the fact that many characters were killed in Season 1.  Jessica Lange has already signed on for Season 2, but I was curious about Sarah Paulson and I think I nailed it in my first question. Yep, she's returning.  Check out my interview with her, Jessica Lange, Alexandra Breckenridge, Connie Britton, and Frances Conroy on the red carpet last night. (And come back tomorrow for my interviews with the cast of NBC's Community.)

Conan O'Brien and Some News!

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to catch Conan O'Brien's new documentary, Can't Stop.  In 2010, I was riveted to The Tonight Show drama started by NBC by originally pushing Jay out, putting Conan in, only to turn around and push Conan out to put Jay in.  Did you follow all of that?  If you missed one of the greatest nighttime soap operas of our time, be sure to catch up with an excerpt from Bill Carter's book, The War for Late Night.  After Conan was publicly kicked in the teeth, he went out on tour.  The documentary became a cathartic, sad, angry, and funny journey for the comedian on how to rebound when life sends you down a path you never intended to take.  How do you pick yourself up?  Well, Can't Stop will show you how.  It's in very limited release throughout the US. In fact, it's playing in one theatre in LA only one time per day:  9:20 PM.  I guess they figure his fans are a late night type of crowd.  Don't miss it and add this documentary to your 2012 Academy Awards nomination watch list.

So, Conan's documentary was a great reminder to persevere even when the deck is stacked against you.  A few months ago, I entered a search for new faces for iVillage's iVoices.  It was a great opportunity video blog or vlog on a terrific site owned by NBC/Universal.  After doing my initial essay, I was asked to submit a video about myself, my interests, and what was happening in my life.  I worked really hard on my submission even though it was a tad long. (Oops!).  I wasn't selected and I was kind of bummed about it.  Fast forward to yesterday:  I received an email from Kelly Wallace, the chief correspondent over at iVillage, asking me to cover one of their press junkets for the upcoming Ryan Reynolds/Jason Bateman film, The Change-Up. Would I like to do it?  Would I?  OF COURSE!  (I snuck my host reel in with my personal video submission.  I was a little worried about doing that, but it was a risk that paid off.)

I am thrilled to be joining the iVillage team as one of their on-air correspondents.  This will be a trial run for me, but I am going to work so hard on this piece because I really want to be here.  I've been a fan of the site for a long time and I am overjoyed at the opportunity.  I will keep you posted on my upcoming coverage.  I couldn't have done it without all of you watching, reading, commenting, and visiting here at Red Carpet Closet all of these months.  Thank you for all of your support!

Weekly Wrap-Up

I can't believe we are finally here.  It was a cranky week for me and I would love to tell you all of the reasons for wearing my grumpy pants all week.  Hhhhmmm, buy me a cupcake and I will tell you a story fit for the movies.  It's that juicy, but it makes me crabby.  Let's get to some of the good stuff instead!

We have the last of the Emmys Weekend interviews.  You can see the entire portfolio here, but here a few fun treats to take a look at and remember, you can find the behind the scenes stories of the shoot here and here.

Phil Keoghan, host of The Amazing Race:

Whitney Port, The City:

Vienna Girardi, The Bachelor:

Michael Yo, host on E!:

Roxy Olin, The City: (Man, she looks SO much like her mother, Patricia Wettig, of Brothers and Sisters.  Beautiful!)

For my LA readers, tonight is Fashion's Night Out at Saks 5th Avenue sponsored by Girls in Tech LA.  I will be covering the event and hopefully, score a deal or two because I really want a pair of clogs for fall.  If you would like to purchase a ticket, remember that a portion of the proceeds go to Dress for Success.

Also, don't forget about the Web TV Prom on September 22nd benefitting LA's Our House.  I have my dress fitting today and I can't wait to share prom night all of you.  You can purchase your tickets here or enter to win two FREE tickets to the prom.  Winner will be announced on Thursday, September 16th.
More goodies from Fashion Forms to try.
I also want to thank Fashion Forms for reading my post and sending me a huge box of goodies.  My undergarments better not show ever again on the red carpet.  I will try out the new products and let you know what I think.
A different view of the red carpet for me.  I wasn't working tonight, so I caught the action from above!
Inside the Paley Center, Beverly Hills.

For those of you looking forward to the new TV season, I had the opportunity to attend the NBC Fall Premiere Party where I watched the pilots of several new shows.  Here's a quick recommendation:  skip Outsourced as it is nothing short of offensive and full of Indian stereotypes.  Check out The Event, if only for the dashing good looks of Jason Ritter.  He steals the show in this 24-type action/mystery series.

Finally, I am hosting a new 5-minute infomercial that should land on your TV sets soon.  I wasn't able to grab a photo on set, but I think many of you may recognize the product.  Oh yeah, that product.  It was a great day and I will let you know when it is up and running.

Have a lovely weekend.  I have a Pre-VMA party and the closing weekend of the Hollywood Bowl on the schedule, but make sure to take a moment to remember all those we lost on 9/11 nine years ago.  Never forget.

See you on Monday here at Red Carpet Closet!

You're Cold Then You're Hot, You're Cold, Cold, Cold And Then You Are Oprah!

Okay, we are going to get this one out of the way. Yes, I am clumsy. A nice little bump and a cut.......do you want to see what I collided with?
Fantastic! The corner of my cabinet in the kitchen. I will defend myself by saying it is the most bizarre construction for a corner cabinet. It hangs over the sink, so when I bent over to scrub a pot....Bump! And ouch!

The bananas continue to invade the State Fair of Texas! So, I have dedicated a whole section to the coveted Texas banana later in this blog.

Now, it's time to discuss the weather. I listen to NBC Dallas meteorologist, Jennifer Lopez (no relation to J.Lo), and she has lied to me every morning. She keeps promising me dry weather and warmer temperatures. Instead, we get this.......

......and this....yes, science experiments in the landscape. I know a little bit of fungi never hurt anyone, but the ground sure is squishy from all of the rain.

So, we need to dress like this........many, many layers.

I will say the little ones look much more fashionable in their winter wear. Jazz hands!

So, the next day at work, it is 94 F and hot........

And super windy!

Oh, and then the following day, it's wet and cold. I bring out the gloves for reinforcements.

But, the bananas are not deterred by the cold weather. They come to see the show and they look pretty happy.

They dance as a part of the opening show entertainment with my co-host, Matt Troyer.....

The banana and the co-host do a tribute to the Macarena.....

Nothing like a little banana background dancing while the ladies perform.

To reward the banana for his excellent movement skills, we gave him a yellow bandana for his head. Look closely.......

Time to dive into the fried food again with the legendary Fletcher's Corny Dog, but this one was special: jalapeño and cheese.

It was delicious........

I didn't like it AT ALL. It definitely rivals a Disneyland corn dog which is the most delicious corn dog in the land.

For dessert, we had a funnel cake. Not as delicious as the Corny Dog, I remember fried dough tasting better when I was younger. We didn't even finish it......so, is that a calorie and fried food point saved??

Don't worry, I am not getting too fat here. There is yoga in the conference room from time to time.

And then on Sunday, the Queen of America arrived with security, a police escort, and helicopters. May I introduce you to my best friend, Oprah?

Sitting next to her was her other BFF, Gayle and her makeup artist, Reggie Wells. Reggie ran around to the open window and performed makeup touch-ups so all of the "candid" photos would be picture perfect.

Suzy and Oprah hanging out at the Fair.......

Me and Oprah contemplating our next move......do we go to the fried butter booth or ride the Big Texas ferris wheel?

People are frantic to capture her photo....this is everyone running after her vehicle. Don't worry, she will be driving back THREE more times for a "spontaneous" visit all captured for Monday's show when Oprah visits the State Fair of Texas.

I am in the final leg of my trip here in Texas. It really has been such a fun month. I will post the final week's photos soon, so you can experience my taste of fried butter, a ride on Big Texas, and all of the fashions as the weather goes from cold to hot to rainy all over again.

Thanks, Y'all!
Make sure to check out the other State Fair Photos:

Part 1: Opening Day.
Part 2: Day 4.
Part 3: Days 5, 6, 7, 8!
Part 4: A Long, Wet Weekend.
