Media Mondays

Beautiful weather and beautiful views during my San Francisco Thanksgiving weekend.

Ahhh, is everyone officially stuffed from their Thanksgiving weekend?  I am ready to hit the trails and work off all of the delicious food I consumed, but I am not sure I am ready to go back to work. Oh well!  If you noticed, I didn't post much last week.  My laptop decided to take a holiday by having the hard drive crap out on me. So, we begin the week anew with a borrowed laptop, but I am back in the mix in the online world.  It's scary out there without a laptop!

Here's where you could find me last week all over the world wide web. Pick your favorite and let me know what you liked best:

Breaking Dawn, Part 2 on Spreecast:  If you watched last week's fan chat with Amy Taylor, we couldn't talk about the twist.  Finally, the NDA was lifted and we talked all about it.  What do you think about the final movie?  Let me know!

Good Morning, Spreecast:  I made another appearance on the morning show even though I had to duck out to do a radio spot, but I had a great time with Seth Everett again.  This also featured the breaking Elmo resignation news.

Even though I my laptop crashed, I still had to write! I had the opportunity to cover the Hitchcock premiere, so this is what I learned from the chilling red carpet for SheKnows:

Hitchcock Premiere
Hollywood's Favorite Hitchcock Movies
Oprah's Favorite Things is Back!

You can see my red carpet photo from the cold red carpet on Facebook.  I wore lots of red, an appropriate color for the evening.

Dancing With the Stars:  It's the semi-finals and our viewers went crazy because we had DWTS troupe member Henry Byalikov.  Watch the Afterbuzz TV show here:

The Radio Dish:  One of my favorite radio spots each week includes this Kansas City show, so listen in and hear the latest scoop on Ocotmom.....noooo, not Octomom!  I come in at 20:30.

If you want the latest entertainment scoop this week, tune in tonight for a little #RadioBurtt on Driving with Gass at 6:35pm PST/9:35pm EST on KWSS.org.

New Adventures With SheKnows.com

I've been hinting at new adventures a lot lately.  Normally, I would be with my Toyota team gearing up for another season of Toyota Live.  This year, I am staying put in Los Angeles to cover all things entertainment.  A new season brings new changes and I alluded to some of the changes last week.

Well, I can officially announce that I am joining the SheKnows.com team as a trending entertainment writer.  I will be posting daily news stories about the hottest scoop in entertainment.  I will let you know when my first story posts, but you can find SheKnows entertainment here or on Twitter or Facebook.  I will, of course, cross post all of the articles on my social media sites to make it as easy as possible for everyone to find me.  So, you will see a lot more entertainment news coming your way.

I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, so make sure to watch this space for more announcements. Thank you all for your support over the last year, it's been a fun ride so far!

Don't forget, I will be on Driving with Gass tonight at 7:35PM PT/9:35PM ET on KWSS. org or 106.7FM in Phoenix talking about the weekend's hottest entertainment news.

Jesus, An Iguana, And A Vampire Walk Into A Bar....

Bill Irwin and me.  For further explanation, see my Facebook page.

To try and sum up last week would take a lot of explaining, so I am going to sum it up with a few words and more photos instead.  It just was a really great week that defied my own personal and professional expectations.  It's not often you get those opportunities, so you have to cherish and relish them at the same time.  Here we go.......

Hanging in my closet for a pre-Q&A shot.  Shirt by Guess, Skirt by Ann Taylor Loft, Shoes by Charles David.  You've seen this outfit before.

A better shot of the look, minus the shoes.

With Chris Mulkey and Reamy Hall after the Q&A for Vampire Mob that I moderated. I don't know Reamy very well, but I feel like we should go out for Happy Hour.  She's kind of awesome like that.

The Web Files team rides again!  Should we start a rumor?  Here with Sandra and Perry Payne.

I like this shot because it is moody.

I went home and then someone called me back out to play.  Along the way, I met Jesus.  No, I'm serious, Jesus. Then the photo went viral.  Read the story.

I "might" have stayed out all night thanks Bar Marmont and Mel's Diner. While Ryan Seacrest was starting his radio show, I was heading home.  It was fun......but I did have an interview about 6 hours later where I ran into an iguana.  We posed for photos.

This week stands to be just as much fun.  Can you say Munich?  What does this week have in store for you?  Share in the comments below!  I want to hear what you are up to.

Don't forget about Media Mondays:
6:30PM PT/9:30PM ET:  Behind The Red Carpet Live on Spreecast.

7:35PM PT/10:35PM ET:  Driving With Gass talking entertainment news with Kevin Gassman and Cindy Love.  Listen in at KWSS.org. #RadioBurtt on Twitter.

A Hot, Sexy Weekend!

Yep, visions of my hot, sexy weekend....caulking my shower and taking badass photos of my kitty. (With her quirky pigmented eye that she has had since she was a kitten.)

Who had a sexier weekend than I did? Give me the dish in the comments below!

Don't forget that you have two opportunities to catch up on entertainment news with me tonight.
1. 6:30PM PT/9:30PM ET:  My LIVE Spreecast chat will be happening right here.  It will be 30 minutes long where I hit the hot topics of the day and then I will answer your questions.  If this is a success, we will do this more often.

Behind The Red Carpet: I Need Your Questions!

I've been writing a lot about what happens behind the scenes in Hollywood from sources to press junkets to reality that isn't reality.  I've decided to take this series to video form and answer your questions.  I'll be doing a short video each and every Wednesday to give you an up-close and exclusive look at Hollywood. I will take a look at urban myths and find out whether they are true or false, but I can't do it without you!

Send me your questions in the comments section below or on Facebook, Twitter, Google +, or if you are shy and want to keep your question private, contact me here.

If your question is used in my first episode, I will send you a fun gift from the prize closet.  So start sending me your questions.........NOW!  I can't wait to see what you have in store for me.

If you want today's inside scoop and entertainment news, I will be on Driving with Gass tonight at 7:35PM PT/10:35PM ET.  You can listen in at 106.7FM in Arizona or online at KWSS.org.

Media Updates: TomKat

Well, life moves quickly, doesn't it?  On Saturday, I discussed the TomKat divorce on Cocktails and Conversation and before you know it, the couple had settled their divorce.  While I think this is much better for their daughter and their personal lives, I have to say it is a bit of damage control on Tom Cruise's end.  No one has ever trumped him in the PR department......until Katie Holmes came along.  Her dad helped orchestrate an elaborate exit that was flawless and wise.  I wish them both the best and I hope their daughter emerges unscathed.

Listen to the Cocktails and Conversation "Hot Topics" show here.  It was a pretty juicy show!  I will also have Tom and Katie divorce updates tonight on Driving with Gass at 7:35PM PT/10:35PM ET on KWSS.org.  Just click on "Listen Live" on the home page.  If you are on Twitter, you can comment on the show live as well, just tweet me here.

I also want to thank StarCam for posting my interview from the red carpet of the 3rd Annual Thirst Project Gala.  It was a great evening and an incredible charity started by my friend, Seth Maxwell.  Clean drinking water is a human right, so learn more about their good works here.

Tomorrow is Hot Topic Tuesday where I will be talking about being "out" in Hollywood.

Happy Monday, everyone!  I am a little slow to get my week started since I am still recovering from a dumb summer cold.  Who gets sick in June?  Ugh, I guess me.  Anyway, I am on the mend and back to work.  Here is where you can find me tonight and I hope you will watch and listen:

1.  Driving with Gass:  I will be on an hour earlier tonight because I am broadcasting live at 7:30PM in Los Angeles.  So, listen to #RadioBurtt on KWSS.org at 6:35PM PT/9:35PM ET tonight.  Just click on the tab, "Listen Live" and you are good to go! Come join me, Kevin, and Cindy as we discuss the latest in entertainment news.  If you live in Phoenix area, you can tune in at 106.7 FM.

2.  ITVFest 2012 Awards Nominations:  At 7:30 PM PT/10:30PM ET, you can watch me LIVE on UStream announcing the nominations for the ITVFest Awards to be held during the Pop Con on Sunday, July 8th.  I will be co-hosting the nominations with comedian, Jonny Loquasto, so I hope you will tune in to catch all of the excitement.  Link to the live broadcast is here.

I hope you will join me tonight for a little entertainment news and the reveal of the nominees.......

Radio Burtt on Driving with Gass: May 7th

Every Monday night, I appear on Driving with Gass with Kevin Gassman and Cindy Love at 7:35PM PT/10:35PM ET on 106.7FM (Arizona) or online at KWSS.  My segment, Red Carpet Confessions, talks about the latest in entertainment news for the week.  Here is what we talked about on Monday, May 7th:

1.  Fifty Shades of Grey:  This is the hottest (XXX) book of the summer and it will be a hot trilogy from Universal and Focus Features soon enough. I'll be discussing the book on my June 2nd appearance on Cocktails and Conversation, so let's read the book together.  Watch the SNL spoof of what to get your mom for Mother's Day:

2.  The Avengers:  It is only the biggest movie ever after this weekend.  Kevin and Cindy were supposed to see it this weekend, but I was the only one who followed through on the homework assignment.  I will be interviewing Chris Hemsworth on Saturday, so I will have more Thor dish next week.  In the meantime, take a look back at the Disney D23 conference where they gave Disney enthusiasts like me a sneak peek at The Avengers and then head over to The Hollywood Reporter and read this fascinating article with Jeremy Renner.  He's kind of a reluctant A-List star, but his work onscreen is impeccable.

Chris Hemsworth

3.  Dark Shadows:  This is everyone's homework assignment for next week's show.  I am going to see it.  Let's see if Kevin and Cindy follow through.  I am a big Tim Burton fan, so enjoy my adventures at the Burton exhibit at LACMA last summer.

Don't forget to mark Monday, May 14th on your calendar for the next Radio Burtt night.

Is The Media Helping Women Lose The Morning Talk Show Wars?

If you have listened to either of my appearances on Driving with Gass or Cocktails and Conversation, I have been covering what has been happening in the morning TV talk show wars:  What is happening with Ann Curry and Matt Lauer over at The Today Show, Katie Couric's fill-in gig over at Good Morning, America, and CBS quietly bringing aboard Oprah as a guest to counter-program all of the shenanigans happening at ABC and NBC. Well, the gossip has been flying throughout the media:  Is Ann Curry getting fired?  Is Savannah Guthrie taking over Ann's spot?  Is Robin Roberts mad that Katie took her spot while Roberts was out on vacation?  I had a lengthy discussion about it last week on Cocktails and Conversation which you can listen to here.  Yesterday, I came across an article in The Hollywood Reporter written by Deborah Norville of Inside Edition.  If anyone can make sense of this mess, it's Deborah.  Why?  Well, she lived through it when she replaced Jane Pauley on The Today Show years ago and the same thing happened:  people gossiped and speculated and here's what happened.....

Let me know your thoughts on the article and weigh in on the topic in the comments below or hit me up on Facebook or Twitter.  It's time we start supporting each other instead of bashing each other, ladies!  (And yep, that's my Twitter stream from my conversation with Deborah.  Awesome.  I like her even more now.)

36th Annual Razzie Award Nominations AKA The Worst In Film For 2011

We were so busy covering the best in film a few weeks ago, that I almost forgot to bring you the worst in film for 2011.  It's the Golden Raspberry Awards also known as the "Razzies".  Now, they normally hand out the awards the night before the Oscars, but this year, the nominations happened on Oscars Eve and the official award date is April 1st.  Yep, April Fool's Day. With a plethora of bad films to choose from, who had the most nominations?  Oh, if you've been listening to me on Driving with Gass, then you know who I picked on in this piece.  Check out the nominations and my interview with founder, John J. B. Wilson:

Where in the World is KB?

I'm not sure where I am either.  Actually, I am in my last few days in Chicago with Toyota Live, but here are a few places where you can find me in the next week or so.  Remember, Red Carpet Closet will be the hub for all of my Oscar coverage over the next week, so come back here for all of the awards show magic.

1. News Talk 690:  I am on Idaho's News Talk morning show today at 6:45AM PT/9:45AM ET.  Click here and find the tab in the upper righthand corner to listen live.  I'll be talking about the Oscars for sure and I am going to guess there will be a Whitney reference or two.

2.  Driving with Gass:  As many of you know, this is my weekly #RadioBurtt appearance.  I will be on again on Monday for an in-depth look at Oscars Week.  Kevin Gassman has been also kind enough to provide a podcast of my appearance from Monday.  We had a thorough discussion of Whitney and the prevalence of prescription drugs in Hollywood. Listen here and give me your thoughts in the comments below.

3.  Cocktails and Conversation:  I will be making two appearances on the show pre and post-Oscars, so make sure to mark Saturday, February 25th and Saturday, March 3rd at 5AM PT//8AM ET.  Listen here.

4. Toyota Live:  I have four more days at the Chicago Auto Show, so come on down to McCormick and join us at the top of every hour.  Shows begin at 11AM with the last show at 8PM. (There is no 4PM show, a girl has to eat!)  We have a few Chicago Bears, Chicago Fire, jellies from the Shedd Aquarium, and Ramblin' Ray from US99 coming through over the next few days.  For the full schedule, click here. Thank you to everyone who has stopped by to say "hi".  It's been so nice to see old friends and meet new friends here in the Windy City.

My News Page will also be updated with the latest appearances, so be sure to check back there often.

Where the heck have I been?  Ah, sigh.  The old laptop crashed and I've been realizing how much I rely upon my electronics.  Well, I'm back on a new laptop and ready to kick off a CRAZY week.  Here's where you can find me:

1.  Behind The Red Carpet:  My weekly Oscar updates are being sent out to media affiliates across the globe.  You can find my insider's look at this year's nominees at the following sites:

The Friday Five

That was a quick week!  I'm now trying to cobble together my life and dust off my suitcases again for a whirlwind month.  I'm hoping Detroit is as warm as possible because after the December summer we have had here in LA, I am spoiled.  Here's a quick Friday Five to round out the week:

Zadi Diaz and me on set in NYC in the 90's...

On the set of The Web Files in 2010.

1.  Cleaning:  I spent much of the month home and digging through old boxes and organizing my home.  I'm not done yet, but it's a great start and I found some hilarious "vintage" photos that I will post from time to time.  I found the above photographs and I recognized someone who is my contemporary out here in LA, but this photo was from an old Pathmark industrial from my time in NYC.  Could it be possible that I worked with her in the 90's?  Yep, it is.  It's Zadi Diaz from Epic Fu.  I interviewed her and her husband/collaborator, Steve Woolf back in 2010.  We were both nominated for a 2010 Streamy Award and she won! The best part about the photo and the video I recently had digitized is that I remember this day on set. (By the way, we were playing rogue cashiers at Pathmark:  she stole a chicken, I stole steaks, and yes, my hair is really that color.)  Here's a look back at our interview in 2010:  Epic Fu on The Web Files.

2.  Press:  Jenna of Smarter.com featured Red Carpet Closet for all of the formal dresses and gowns I wore last year.  She highlighted my favorite dress of 2011 which was created by Chagoury Couture. Thanks for the shout out, Jenna.  To see the article, click here. To visit Jenna's personal blog, Seven Style Notes, click here.

3.  iVillage:  This is a fun compilation video from all of the entertainment correspondents over at iVillage that asks your favorite celebs about their best holiday memories.  I handled the Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Lea Michele interviews.  I know I am a little late in posting this and you probably don't want to even think about the holiday season right now. Just think of it as preparation for Holidays 2012?

4.  Driving with Gass:  Don't forget that I do my Monday night entertainment segment each week at 6:35PM PT/9:35PM ET. Now that we are in full awards season swing, there will be a lot to talk about this month. It's so easy to listen in at KWSS.org.  Click on the "Listen Live" tab and you can join us right from your laptop.  For those of you on Twitter, I also do an interactive chat during and after the show using the hash tag #RadioBurtt.

5. Team KB:  Team KB grew by one member yesterday, so everyone please welcome Melanie Marquez of M4PR.  She will be handling all of my media throughout awards season and beyond.  This will also bring more video, events, and exciting content to Red Carpet Closet.  If you need me for any event, show, press quote, etc, contact Melanie here.  My team keeps me together more than you know, so you will probably hear a lot of praise for Mel, Carolina, Roni, Annie, and Maria these next few months.

Have a great weekend, everyone!  I will be coming to you live from NAIAS Detroit on Monday.

Deep Fried Everything and the Bumble Bee

Well, kids, I am rounding day 19 at the State Fair of Texas.  This show is always a marathon, not a sprint to the finish.  I've been dressed like a bumble bee for days now and it was only fitting that an audience member, Tyler, came dressed as a bumble bee to our show.  Yellow and black will never look the same to me.  I know I've dressed the same way in 2009 and 2010, but I think I'm ready for a new look.  How about blue next year?

I happily have indulged in delicious fried food this year like a little Chicken Express fried chicken, fried okra, hush puppies, and fried corn nuggets.  Have you ever tried a fried corn nugget?  Holy cow!  Who knew you could fry creamed corn in a little nugget of deliciousness?  I promise I have been working out a lot this time around since I have a few red carpet events once I hit the West Coast and the East Coast again in the next few weeks.

Finally, a high five to the chef who created a Deep Fried Grilled Cheese with a side of tomato soup and potato sticks from your elementary school brown bag lunch topped off with Sweet Tea and a pickle.  Sometimes the simplicity of food is the best way to eat. *UPDATE*:  I am getting a lot of inquiries here on where to find Deep Fried Grilled Cheese at the fair.  The stand is just across from the main entrance of the Old Mill Restaurant.  Enjoy! And let me know what you think about the amazing Deep Fried Grilled Cheese.

I will be back to all of my red carpet shenanigans next week, but I hope you are able to join me tonight (Monday, October 17th) for my appearance on the Driving with Gass show.  Kevin and I debate the latest entertainment news....the good, the bad, and the ugly.  I hope you join us by listening here at KWSS.org at 7:35PM PT/10:35PM ET.  You can also join in the conversation on my Twitter account with the hashtag:  #RadioBurtt.
