2009 in Review: June

Okay, we are officially at the halfway point and this is where my year started charging full speed ahead and it doesn't slow down until we hit the Christmas holidays.

Hanging at E3 with the 2010 Toyota Prius and The Sims 3:

This still remains one of my favorite locations from The Web Files, The Hollywood Wax Museum. I adore the cast from The Crew and I am so happy for their success. Check out our episode with them here: The Crew

Covering the Whatever Works premiere at the Pacific Design Center for Focus Hollywood. I interviewed some fantastic actors at this premiere, Ed Begley, Jr, Patricia Clarkson, Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood, Peter Fonda, and John Lithgow. See the footage here:
Whatever Works Premiere

My coverage for this panel will stand out in my mind forever. I attended Dance Camera West's Choreography Media Honors Panel to cover the events for Dance Channel TV. One of the dancers, Chuck Klapow, was currently rehearsing the "This Is It" tour with Michael Jackson. Read the article: Choreography Panel. Sadly, we all know the outcome.

On set with The Web Files for Episode 4 featuring Space Hospital. They are currently airing Season 2, so be sure to check them out. This is also the first shoot we came across our current makeup artist, Melissa Anchondo. A fortuitous day! Here's episode 4: Space Hospital.
Things only get busier as the second half of the year brings a lot of growth to The Web Files. Remember, we didn't even launch until July 8th! Come back for more tomorrow.

2009 in Review: May

May was another month I had to whittle down the photos because my month was jam-packed, but this time my work was based in LA. It was nice not to have to travel for once which is a rarity in my world.

I started working for a media outlet, Focus Hollywood, doing red carpet interviews. Unfortunately, the outlet was a victim of this lousy economy, but my interviews are still up. And yes, I am still looking for a media outlet for 2010. I miss doing my regular gigs. This event was A Time for Heroes at Universal Studios' Backlot.

One of my standing jobs with LawInfo. I have worked with these amazing people since 2008 and it is always a pleasure to head to San Diego to work with them. Notice my footwear....

The episode that started it all for The Web Files with Tay Zonday. We filmed at one of my favorite cupcake places in LA called Big Sugar. If you haven't seen Episode 1 in awhile, check it out here .

I am sure I was the envy of every guy out there when I covered the MAXIM Hot 100 party. It was one of the most challenging red carpets I have ever covered because it was filled with reality "stars" and C-listers. Oh, the gossip from this night! If you want to know the less than glamorous part of the red carpet, I will happily give you the scoop in exchange for a Coffee Bean tea latte.

The super fun GeekOut event with my EP, Sandra Payne. This was the event where we met Tay Zonday and the cast from The Crew where they agreed to be interviewed. Thank goodness our enthusiasm didn't scare them too much.
Come back tomorrow where June brings MJ coverage, more red carpet, and a day at the wax museum.

2009 in Review: April

This was a hard month to whittle down to five photos since I was in Denver, NY, and Vegas for work. It was the end of our season for Toyota Live, but the beginning of new adventures with The Web Files.

Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows how often I tweet about these two food groups.

Last day of the show in NY before I head off to Vegas for NAB. Yes, the boys take awful photos of me and put them up on our video monitors. It's tough being the only girl.

Over at the Palazzo on my way to Dos Caminos for guacamole and margaritas!

At SONY presenting for NAB 2009.
Back home and on set on the blue screen to anchor the Our Time news broadcast.
Tomorrow, I will have our first photos up from The Web Files. It seems like a million years ago, but we shot our first show only 7 months ago.

2009 in Review: March

March of 2009 was a key month for me this year. I had the opportunity to work the red carpet of the 1st Annual Streamy Awards where my idea for The Web Files was born. It's hard to imagine that it was only an idea 9 months ago and now that idea has turned into such a fun and exciting opportunity for me. Here's my March in review:

My month started off with a trip to Costa Rica and an amazing day rappelling down waterfalls in Arenal.

Yep, that's me going down a 100-foot waterfall. This shot makes me look like I have real muscles. I like that.

The Streamy Awards! I was a part of the streaming red carpet feed. One of my first interviews was with the cast of Private High Musical with Dennis Haskins.

I look a little stunned to be standing next to Dennis, but that red carpet was packed and so much fun!

My final interview of the night was with Lisa Kudrow and the cast of Web Therapy. What a great way to top off the evening.
So here I am full circle and asking you to nominate The Web Files for Best Hosted Web Series for the 2010 Streamys. Just look in the upper right hand corner of this page. The box will take you right to the nominations page. You can nominate the show all the way through January 22nd.

We are also in the running for Best Web Original Non-Fiction show for 2009 by Clicker.com. It just takes a second to vote for us. Voting ends December 31st. Vote here: The Web Files
Thanks for all of your assistance with this. I appreciate it! Coming tomorrow, my April 2009 wrap-up in 5 photos or less.

Photos 3 and 4 are by The Bui Brothers.

2009 in Review: February

February brought my annual trip to Chicago for two weeks. That means cold weather, snow, wind, and a lot of hibernation for this LA girl. Not a super exciting month, but March is jam-packed, I promise.

I like to call this "Bored at the Hotel". Too much hibernation and I start playing with the Photo Booth on my MacBook. I am partial to the Comic Book Effect though.
I did get to meet my super cute cousin, Amina, while in Chicago. She's so squishy, I love it!
Interviewing Chicago Bears player, Jason McKie on our stage.....
Well, I didn't work the show this year, but I did get to hold an Oscar one more time.

Nothing is better than going home and grabbing my puppy for a hike......

2009 in Review: January

Here's a quick speed through of my year. I am going to try and post 5 pictures that represent each month of 2009 for me over the next 12 days. Ready? GO!

First day of 2009 working in San Diego where everything is shiny, bright, and new......

Off to CES 2009 where I presented the Pure HD Sound for one of my clients, LG Electronics...

One of my favorite topics? The Toyota Prius! Standing next to the 2010 Prius at the North American International Auto Show. It was the public's first look, but they couldn't touch it until May, but I got a chance to sit inside in January.

My two favorite audience members of all time at Toyota Live. They were so cute and one of them cried when she won a prize! My co-host and I posed for photos after the show.

While I travel for work A LOT, I also get to have fun too. After a long day at work, I played at the City Museum in St. Louis. Add this to your MUST DO list on your next visit to the city.
Coming tomorrow is a quick wrap-up of February.....Chicago, Oscar, my animals, and more!

Weekend Web Watch Crew Pick: Dusty Peacock

Our Weekend Web Watch is being brought to you this weekend by The Web Files crew. I thought it might be fun to have one of our crew members select their favorite episode that you might have missed. This week, Jenn Bobiwash, our PA and all-around Renaissance woman, picked Dusty Peacock with Gary Valentine. I thought this was fitting since Daphne Brogdon used to co-host a show with Gary and she is our current guest on The Web Files. We interviewed Gary back in July when our show was only a few weeks old on the web. Gary came from a different perspective than many of our guests in that he has an established career and a fully-funded web series. He didn't have the challenges that many of us are facing, so it was an interesting and funny interview. I also think the episode is worth seeing for the location alone. Another Sandra Payne genius idea!

Check out the episode and our behind the scenes look at filming with Gary Valentine. I really think this is an episode that is worth revisiting if you missed it the first time. Enjoy your Weekend Web Watch!

PS Don't forget that voting is still open:
Clicker.com awards: Best Original Non-Fiction Web Show
And for the Streamys: Best Hosted Web Series
Thanks for your support and votes!
