A Hidden Gem

Not bad, Steve Jobs, not bad....this photo was taken on my iPhone 4.

Would you believe this place exists amidst all of the chaos of Hollywood Boulevard? Hidden behind the famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine is the new restaurant, Wood and Vine.  It's a great place to sit back with a speciality cocktail like my very girly, Accomplice:  Rain Organic vodka, lemon juice, strawberry syrup, and champagne or something a little more manly for those of you into the dark booze drinks.  Head to the back to their cozy garden area with a fire pit, heat lamps, a cocktail, a taste of their chicken and waffles and the most divine thing on the menu:  Butterscotch Pot de Crème with Salted Caramel Ice Cream.  It's housed in the historic Taft Building which housed the original offices of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (The Oscar nerd in me just squealed!) and Charlie Chaplin.

Wood and Vine:  6280 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood

A view from the couch in the garden area of Wood and Vine--the LA sky encompassed by a historic building.

  1. Wait? You like Chicken and waffles? Next time you are in the D (if you like chicken and waffles you can call it the D) you need to go to the New Center Eatery on Grand BLVD.

  2. Wait, you haven't noticed that I like food?  Yes, we will have to discuss this topic for January 2012.  I am always looking for new places to eat.

OH MY GOD, you had me at Butterscotch Pot de Crème with Salted Caramel Ice Cream.  That sounds insane!  This place looks adorable!  From the picture I thought it was Gjelina in Venice (amazing, if you haven't been, btw).  Thank you for the sweet comment today and YES I'm dying to hear your list of favorite Detroit restaurants!!!  Gabe and I are going on the 16th to find a place to live and already trying to figure out where to eat.  Whenever you have a chance, I would LOVE to hear your favorites!!!  Did you live there?  Hope you're doing well.

  4. Yes, I will email you.  Is your email address on your site?  I spent 2 1/2 weeks there every January, so I am well-versed on the Detroit food scene. There are some great finds in the Motor City.  I will have to check Gjelina in Venice too!
