Susan Lucci Signs a Deal With 'Desperate Housewives'
We interrupt the weekend with a special Red Carpet Closet announcement.....
I have been following the whole ABC Daytime drama by engaging in a dialogue with the soap fans and then writing an article for Starpulse about the whole debacle. In my original article, I mentioned the rumor posted on Blind Gossip about Susan Lucci joining the cast of Desperate Housewives. Well, turns out the rumor is true and Blind Gossip has confirmed that the deal will be announced next week. The best news about the deal is that Susan will continue with All My Children until the end of its run and still star on the Sunday night drama with Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross. While this does not bring AMC back into the daytime fold, I consider the wise usage of Lucci's talents and fans one for the win category, especially since Desperate Housewives has been struggling in the ratings. ABC was smart not to let her out of their network since she was bound to be snatched up quickly by a competitor. Now, we just have to wait for the weekend to pass and the news to be officially announced.
Now that the rumor is true, what do you think? Weigh in here, daytime fans!
Many thanks to Blind Gossip for the scoop!

This does not change my feeling about ABC or Disney. they made a huge mistake to cancel All My Children and One Life to Live. If they think this will silence the soap fans they are WRONG! Only the firing of Brian Frons and to uncancel the soaps will do that. I still will only watch the soaps on ABC. I am Boycotting everything else on ABC and Disney. Also I will not buy products from advertisers that sponsor the new shows on ABC.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sad to see Susan and All My Children leave the Daytime TV. I think this is a huge mistake. However, I congratulate Susan on her new role in Desperate Housewives. If she can no longer be in Pine Valley, then there's no place like Wisteria Lane! It's just so sad to have to say goodbye to all our Pine Valley friends after all these years. May sound crazy, but they became like family after 41 years. Will be tough to say goodbye!
ReplyDeleteThis news will not alter the fact that I will no longer be watching anything on ABC especially Desperate Housewives except for my soaps. I have just lost all respect in Susan Lucci and she no longer has me as a fan
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke!! No AMC or OLTL then NO abc. Good luck Susan but the fans who made you so popular won't be watching if you are on abc!! SOS and boycott Disney and abc!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust another attempt at abc trying to "entice" and "appease" soap fans! We are not stupid and are not the dogs that frons called us to thrown a bone...
ReplyDeleteI am happy Susan has job to fall back on ! Sad that it is on ABC!!!! The only thing I will watch on ABC/
ReplyDeleteDisney are my soaps and once they are gone no more ABC so I really wish she had got a role on another network I will miss her.
I can't be nice, What a Witch! No I am not following that betrayer! She is too old! Maybe Desperate, but not a Desperate Housewive. Hasn't she looked in the mirror lately. I am sorry, I have not like her for several years now.
ReplyDeleteI am curious what happens when/IF the fans succeed in "SAVING the SOAPS" Will they just kill off Erica Kane? I know that Susan Lucci had to make a choice as to whether to take a deal because the show she has worked on for 40+ years is going off the air, I am just somewhat disappointed that Susan chose to sign a deal instead of doing a let's see... Or IF the cancellation goes through etc. As a soap fan it unfortunately makes me wonder about the fight we are in to save AMC..does her signing the deal seal the fate of the show?.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Susan continue to work for ABC after they dumped AMC. I don't believe it. Why would she want to work on a catty show like that. Gave up on DH after the first year as it's trash.
ReplyDeleteI WANT BE WATCHING DW IF THEY DON'T KEEP ABC ALL MY CHILDREN,ONE LIFE TO LIVE ON.NOW THAT SHE IS OFF THAT IS MORE MONEY TO KEEP OUR SHOWS ON.NOTHING,NO AMOUNT OF TIME WILL STOP ME FROM FIGHTING FOR MY SOAPS.MAKE SOAPNET A SOAP OPERA CHANNEL.MAKE IT A PREMIUM CHANEL AND I'LL PAY FOR IT I WANT MY SOAPS TO STAY ON THE AIR!!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is NOT what I wanted to hear! I do not even watch Desperate Housewives...........that show never interested me to even watch a full episode..............I love you Susan.............but not enough to lose my All My Children forever!
ReplyDeleteaww, good for her!
ReplyDeleteI am dismayed over Lucci's decision to be a part of another ABC/Disney program after the show she has been with for 40 some years was aancelled. Is she a traitor? In my eyes, yes! I guess she is just trying to make the bucks, but, in the meantime ignoring what ABC has done to the millions of fans who have watched her grow and evolve into the woman that she is today.
ReplyDeleteSeems like she has given up. No faith in what us fans are trying to do. Oh well...Goodbye Erica Kane.
ReplyDeleteSusan is a wonderful actress tied to a poor network contract. Although I wish her the best, I will not be watching ABC after my soaps are gone.
ReplyDeleteWhy would bringing Susan Lucci to Desperate Housewives help their ratings Susan didn't obviously keep Amc's ratings up enough. And the people that don't watch soaps don't know or give a crap about Susan. It doesn't make any sense.
ReplyDeleteSTILL NOT HAPPY WITH ABC/DISNEY. I LOVE ALL MYCHILDREN, ONE LIFE TO LIVE AND GENERAL HOSPITAL. I WILL NOT WATCH HER ON DH, I HATE THAT SHOW. PLUS THEY HAVE EVA L. FROM Y&R. CANCELLED NEXT UP TO BE CANCELLED PLEASE OH WILL BYE ABC
ReplyDeleteI will not watch ABC. I am glad for Susan Lucci but rumors are ABC may cancel this show too.
