I know we just finished the Emmys Event Gift Bag yesterday, but I was lucky enough to receive two complimentary tickets to the upcoming "Enchantment Under the Web" Prom that is happening here in LA on September 22nd from 8PM-12AM. So, two free tickets means it is GIVEAWAY time!
The prom will be hosted by Lon Harris of This Week In with live music by Shaimus and the live stream of the night will be hosted by me. (And I am hoping to get the uber-busy Judalina Neira on-camera for a few minutes to co-host with me.) No prom is complete without a Prom King/Queen and their court, so take a look at the Class of 2010 nominees:
The Ladies:
Cooper Harris
Shanrah Wakefield
iJustine
Zadi Diaz
Olga Kay
Julia Allison
The Gents:
Mark Gantt
Benny & Rafi Fine
Maxwell Glick
Shane Dawson
Andre Blacknerd
I will have the opportunity to interview them all. Andre has asked that I don't make him cry like Barbara Walters (or Gil Duldulao) and I know Cooper is searching all over town for the perfect dress. It's going to be a memorable night and a charitable night because all of the proceeds from the evening benefits the LA non-profit, Our House, a grief support services organization.
Just a reminder, this event is 21+ and it is in Los Angeles. I cannot provide transportation to Southern California for you, so remember you are on your own for transportation/accommodations, but I am happy to dance with you. Tickets are worth $30 each, so your prize package totals $60 which leaves more money in your bank account to buy a dress!
Here's how to enter: Tell me your favorite prom memory in the comments section below. Comments will be open between now and Wednesday, September 15th at 11:59PM PST. The winner will be decided by Random.org and announced here on Red Carpet Closet on Thursday, September 16th at 9:00AM PST. The winner will be able to pick up their tickets at the door the night of the event.
Good luck and I can't wait to see all of you on September 22nd!
If you aren't feeling lucky today, you can purchase tickets to the event here.
I went to my prom stag and ended up getting into a fist fight on the golf course behind the country club holding our prom. I lost the deposit for the tux. Fun Times!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I was a fat theatre geek, language club, honor roll, outcast who dressed like Ducky, but I was also funny so I managed to charm (scam?) one of the prom court ladies in to being my date. The limo called and said it got in to an accident & my car was in the shop, so I had to get her in my dad's old pick-up truck. We were late to dinner and lost our reservation, so we ended up at a local diner. After prom we met some friends for an after party and when everyone took off we discovered that my dad had left us with an empty tank so we only made it a mile before we ran out of gas and had to walk (pre-cell phone days, kids) to a pay phone and call her dad to pick us up...at 3am. Her mom was sweet and made us all breakfast while her dad sat at the table cleaning his hunting rifle (yes, seriously). Then he drove me to a gas station and back to my truck...in silence. I figured she'd never speak to me again, but Monday morning she gave me a kiss, said it was the craziest night ever and we dated for the next 6 months. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteThe ribbon in her corsage happily matched her dress, by pure luck.
ReplyDeleteAt the last minute my date for prom bailed on me and I had to ask another girl, as if asking the first one wasn't hard enough. Luckily she said yes and happened to have a dress that matched my tux that I'd already rented. Great night. Ended with us in my hot tub, which led to my first kiss and first girlfriend for the next few months. Yes it was indeed magical.
ReplyDeleteBTW: Are any girls gonna comment on this??
I didn't have a date for prom. The one guy I asked to prom said yes and later called to tell me that he was actually going to be out of town. So my mother called a friend and her nephew went to prom with me as a blind date. I didn't meet him until the night of the prom. He was a 20 year old married guy with glasses. The end. (:
ReplyDelete@Acts4Food. I am a girl and have responded! :D
ReplyDeleteI would love those two tickets. In fact if I get them I'll recreate some of what happened and end my story at the web event ;-)
ReplyDeleteSo
I myself made a movie asking her.
She was the most beautiful blonde girl I'd ever seen.
I had her teacher play it in class
and at the end I walked in with roses, white roses
She said yes.

I was an IDIOT. Went to another schools prom with a girl I knew fairly well and really liked (as a friend, no this is not the IDIOT part believe it or not). Well anyway, we did all the things you do: Flowers, Dinner, Friends, Talk, Laugh, Go to the Prom, Dance,...then came the photos...and my "IDIOT" Moment...We took the photos and passed by the table where they were selling the photos...I just said something to my date like "Oh, I don't need any photos, you can get them if you like"...Nothing like an IDIOT cherishing one of his special moments! Can you actually believe that I actually got dates after that? and got married?? and stayed married??? BTW - thinking back on it my dancing was pretty horrible too...guess I am just not the "Prom" kind of a guy :)
ReplyDeleteand imagine Brittney Powell and I showing up in bad 1980s prom dress and tux if we get the tix ;-). cause we will
ReplyDeleteFinding the perfect red dress, then walking in the room just as the song "The lady in red" was playing. It's all about timing!
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends in college had missed her Prom, so a few friends and I got together and threw her a Senior Prom. Which went well, and the next year we decided to do it again. Hands down the second year of "Prom" was the best of all of my Prom experiences. We found a great location, with a pool, set floating candles across the water. Plotted out lighting to accentuate the mood (the whole thing seemed totally like a movie). Very one was dressed up and it was just like a really nice, fancy evening (of where there were few in my college days). It also helped that we could all legally drink. In fact, my favorite memory of the night was my friend coming up to me laughing hysterically that some party crasher had puked on his face...classic, cause when does that ever happen in real life?
ReplyDeleteMy prom story: how I was asked to prom.
ReplyDeleteMy senior prom: my first real date.
During intermission for the spring musical South Pacific.
I was in a fat suit, playing Bloody Mary.
He was on ‘stage crew’ & dressed as a sailor.
I was passed a note to meet him on the catwalk above the stage.
There he was – kneeling on the metal.
Sparkling grape juice. Neither of us liked the taste.
His class ring tied around the stem of one of his mother’s wine glasses.
I felt like I was in a movie.
“Will you go to the prom with me?” he asked.
“Well, I’d have to ask my mom first.”
I remember that before that moment I never even imagined I would go to the prom…much less with a date.
Very sweet memory.
I promised my best friend I would take him to my senior prom and then ditched him to take my freshman boyfriend instead...I know, RUDE!! He ended up scoring a much better date than me anyway and he had a blast while I was stuck with diaper boy. We are still the VERY best of friends to this day, but he's never let me forget that I spoiled what could have been a really, really great night for...a boy. :(
