2013 Tony Awards Nominations

I spent my morning at the Tony Awards nominations in New York. While I have covered the red carpet before, it is the first time I had the opportunity to attention the early morning announcements. Sutton Foster and Jesse Tyler Ferguson hosted the nominations and they were hilarious together.

There were lots of interesting snubs from Bette Midler to Alan Cumming to Lilla Crawford, but there were lots of reasons to celebrate as well. Kinky Boots and Matilda the Musical will be battling it out for Best Musical while Tom Hanks has garnered his first Tony nomination for Lucky Guy written by his beloved friend, Nora Ephron. Ephron passed away last June after complications from Pneumonia and Leukemia.

See how all the action went down on Tuesday morning with my coverage for Starpulse:

AfterBuzz TV Dancing With the Stars, Week 7 Preview

We did let one of our guest's names slip on last week's show. We had her on last year and she provided a tremendous amount of insight, commentary, and opinions on Season 15. It's going to be great to hear what she has to say about Season 16.

Wednesday night's guest is...Shirley Ballas!  Joining her will be professional dancer Yegor Novikov who has had incredible success in competition.  Of course, Anna will also be in the house, so start sending in your questions. Post them in the comments below.

Don't forget to watch the show on AfterBuzz TV at 9pm PT. Link is here.

Media Mondays

It's a Gluten Free brownie!!!

Hello from the Big Apple!  I arrived this afternoon to lots of rain and of course, my umbrella is back in LA where I don't need it.

I will be covering the Tony Award nominations tomorrow morning, so if you are a musical theatre fan, be sure to look for my coverage on Twitter.

Here is where you can find my media appearances from last week:

AfterBuzz TV DWTS:  All of last week's thoughts, insights, and show are here.

Video streaming by Ustream Eat. Taste. Live.:  I was lucky enough to be a guest on this delicious Gluten Free cooking show. Chef Andrew Doyle whipped up a strawberry quinoa salad, ceviche, quesadillas, and brownies. I walked out super fat, but super happy. We had so much fun with Joel Bryant and pitching every product sponsor.

Joel Bryant showing off his strawberry quinoa salad.

Tom Barnard Podcast: Oh, I talked about the year Steven Tyler showed up to the Oscars in a white bedazzled jumpsuit...my favorite part of Armageddon. Listen in beginning at the 13:00 mark.

The Radio Dish: I talk with the ladies about poor Hugh Jackman. He's been dealing with a stalker who hates his beard. She threw a razor at him. I kid you not. I come in at the 20:45 mark.

SheKnows: My favorite articles from last week:
Gwyneth Paltrow talks about her bushy bikini line--It's exactly what you think.
Justin Timberlake on marriage: "It suits me"--Finally, a celeb who likes to be married.
Jason Segel adds a new job to his résumé: Author--This could be an interesting series.

2013 White House Correspondents Dinner: The Good and Bad Red Carpet Fashions

#NerdProm is here!  Yes, the annual White House Correspondents Dinner has become one of the coveted red carpets to cover and one of the biggest parties of the year. I want in! Alas, I am not there, but I am happy to weigh in on a few of the fashions that marched down the red carpet on Saturday.

Let's take a glance at what everyone wore:

1. Hayden Panettiere:  Too prom?  The hair and the side draping on her hips scream, "I'm a Southern Belle or Disney's Belle or I just want to be Belle!" Dress: Katharine Kidd

2. Julie Bowen:  I've asked her to eat a meal or two in the past and I think she looks fit and healthy now. However, she has too much Botox on the forehead and it's actually making one of her eyes droop. Look for yourself. Injectables are fine, as long as you don't overdo it. Oh, and the Laura Bush hair ages her. Just a no. Dress: Monique Lhuillier

3. Katy Perry:  I love it when she dresses up and shows off a more feminine side. She's very pretty...but is that a white panty line I spot? Dress: Giambattista Valli

4. Olivia Munn:  This is the best I have ever seen her look on a red carpet. Gorgeous! That statement necklace is to die for. Dress: Marchesa

5. Sofia Vergara:  This woman's body is amazing...fit, curvy, and she showcases her shape. She always wears her hair down, but I think with this outfit, it's the perfect choice. I also love the teal dress and magenta jewelry color contrast.  Dress: Karen Caldwell

 6. Amy Poehler: She's been looking smashing since her split with Will Arnett, but this dress isn't doing much for her. I think the cap sleeves bug me even though the detailing at the waist is pretty. Dress: Basler

7. Claire Danes:  This color is stunning on her and I don't think we have seen her in blue in ages.  I think the Farrah 'do is wrong for this dress and I want a little more tailoring of the outfit on her slight frame. Dress: Prada

8. Kerry Washington:  She's become quite the red carpet fashionista. I love this look on her petite figure. I don't love the bangs. There was a lot of weird hair at the Correspondents Dinner. I have a feeling a lot of first lady hairstylists in DC were hired for this event. It's not Hollywood hair.

9. Kate Mara:  This is very simple and elegant, but I love the splash of color with the lime clutch. The clean hair and makeup look really enhance the whole statement.

10. Patricia Arquette:  Oh dear. That is all.

Take a look at last year's fashions at the 2012 White House Correspondents Dinner. I feel like last year was a bit more A-list.

What are your thoughts on this year's fashions? Let me know in the comments below. (I will add the dress designers as I get more info.)

AfterBuzz TV DWTS, Week 6: The Twitter Controversy

Even at Disneyland, there is no escape from DWTS!

I think this is our most hotly debated show of the season.  Team Zendaya thinks we hate Zendaya. If you have followed our shows over the last month and a half, you know that isn't true. I'm a big fan of the 16-year-old as a celeb and as great role model. I personally don't care how many Twitter followers she has and I don't think she is a ringer for ABC. I just want to see the girl dance! I think we all know where I stand and I believe my co-hosts are in the same boat on that. Any other interpretation of our opinions is erroneous.

Phew! Okay, I think we are good on that...until the next controversy. You guys like to keep me on my toes!

Don't forget to send in your red carpet questions on Mondays and Tuesdays to JC Rubio and Jackie Miranne. We are featuring one question each week on the Wednesday show. (Click on their names to tweet your questions.)

As a fan of SYTYCD, I am super excited that tWitch and Allison Holker will be performing together on Tuesday's show. Their dancing is amazing and they are a cute couple.  It's a great reminder that Season 10 is just around the corner....

eat.taste.live

Many of you know that last year I discovered I had a gluten allergy.  It hasn't been that bad avoiding gluten, especially since I feel so much better.  I am a girl who loves to eat, so I am excited to be a guest, along with actor Joel Bryant, on a new web show, eat. taste. live. with Chef Andrew Doyle.

You can watch us LIVE tomorrow at 11am PT/2pm ET at eat.taste.live

Tomorrow's menu looks amazing, too. Here is what he will be cooking and I will be eating for Episode 103:

AfterBuzz TV DWTS, Week 6 Preview

This is when it gets tougher and tougher to book guests because the rehearsals become more demanding with group dances and the competition gets even stiffer. Everyone wants to win.

We had two great guests for you, but they had to pull out late last night due to rehearsal. We are hoping to have them on later in the season.

However, we still have the amazing Anna Trebunskaya with us this week and she choreographed two numbers while Stevie Wonder sang live.  I have to admit, I am pretty jealous because it was an incredible opportunity for the pros and celebs to work with a living legend.

So, here's the week to ask Anna your questions about choreography, about how the show is run, how the contestants feel at this stage of the game, etc.  Ask away! Use the comments section below to ask your questions. The comments section will be the ONLY place I will take questions for tonight's show.

A couple of things I want to note:
   1. Voting:  We talked a lot about it this week on Twitter. Some of you are having issues, but this is probably not a topic we will address on AfterBuzz since there are so many dance topics to discuss. Technology is not perfect, so there are often glitches in the online voting system. As @DWTSGossip pointed out, voting is NOT run by ABC. It is run by an outside firm to adhere to broadcast standards and practices.  If you have complaints about the system, contact ABC here. There is also a People magazine article about it here. (If there is time, we will try to address Twitter voting tonight. That topic makes more sense for this week's team dances/results.)

2.  Autograph Requests:  Thanks for watching the show and supporting us, we really appreciate it. Many of you have asked for photos/autographs from the AfterBuzz crew. We are happy to do it, but here's the process:

A. Print up a photo of your choice at this Pinterest page.
B. Send a Self-Addressed, Stamped Envelope and Photo to:
   Kristyn Burtt
   c/o M4PR
   11684 Ventura Blvd.
   Suite 213
   Studio City, CA 91604
   USA

Let me know if you have any questions. You can always find the contact information here, too.

See you tonight at 9pm PT on AfterBuzz TV! Watch here.
