An incredible show, but tap is only a small part of the choreography.Kristyn Burtthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14035984713982994861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120574305705163258.post-53950025292901752852010-06-21T21:30:45.188-07:002010-06-21T21:30:45.188-07:00I'd like to see more Savion Glover but I just ...I'd like to see more Savion Glover but I just Googled him and found out he has a new show, Sole Power, going up in New York.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120574305705163258.post-1749701765439392502010-06-20T22:32:35.631-07:002010-06-20T22:32:35.631-07:00That is a really interesting note in Britain versu...That is a really interesting note in Britain versus US theatre. Some of the best theatre this season came out of Britain's Menier Chocolate Factory, so they are doing something right. ;)

In regards to dance's "lost years": We not only lost an entire generation of choreographers in the '80s, we also lost a generation of dancers due to the AIDS crisis. Now that dance is back, thanks to all of the reality/competition shows, it's nice to see major directors/choreographers like Kenny Ortega, mentoring so many. I am not sure we are going to see the likes of Fosse, Bennett, or Jackson again, but at least there is some preservation in dance.Kristyn Burtthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14035984713982994861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120574305705163258.post-52283015535796975032010-06-20T21:56:19.208-07:002010-06-20T21:56:19.208-07:00Stomp The Yard had great moves. Went to a Shakespeare seminar and there was an interesting discussion about how in Britain, directors were more likely to learn their theatre through apprenticeship and mentoring while in America, people went to college. I think the hands on, follow someone around and learn approach is the better one, and I imagine this is especially true with something as physical, precise and varied as dance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120574305705163258.post-31280994401898872182010-06-19T16:49:02.106-07:002010-06-19T16:49:02.106-07:00Thanks! :) Have you seen John Chu's "Th...Thanks! :) Have you seen John Chu's "The LXD"?
